Arts & Sciences Outstanding Faculty Awards

The College of Arts & Sciences recognizes outstanding faculty in the following areas:

• Non-tenure track-faculty, Outstanding Teaching (up to three, representing sciences, social sciences, and humanities)
• Tenured faculty, Outstanding Teaching (up to three, representing sciences, social sciences, and humanities)
• Tenure-Track but not tenured Faculty, Outstanding Teaching (1)
• Tenured faculty, Outstanding Scholarship (up to three, representing sciences, social sciences, and humanities)
• Tenure-Track but not tenured Faculty, Outstanding Scholarship (1)
• Significant contributions to the academic community in ways other than teaching or research (All ranks, 1)

In addition to College-level recognition, those receiving awards will be eligible for the University’s Outstanding Faculty Award.

Nominations for the College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Faculty follow the same structure as those for University awards:

1. Candidate nomination packets are limited to four pages, which may include:
   1. An abbreviated curriculum vitae.
   2. Letter of recommendation from their chair.
   3. Letters of recommendation from colleagues (internal or external to Baylor).
   4. Excerpts (quantitative or qualitative) from course evaluations.
   5. Letters of recommendation from current or past students.
2. Pages should be numbered. Pages beyond the limit of four will not be reviewed. Concisely summarize student evaluations rather than submitting originals.
3. The scholarly voice of the candidate information should be in 3rd person point-of-view.
4. The candidate nomination packet font size should be no smaller than 10 pt., and the margins should be no narrower than 3/4 inches.
5. Within the letters of recommendation, the candidate's teaching, research, university service, student contacts, and community and church service should be addressed. First priority should be addressed to the category to which the candidate is being nominated (i.e., teaching, scholarship, significant contributions). 

September 1, 2025 – Nominations open 

November 3, 2025 – Deadline to submit 4-page packet to College of Arts & Sciences.

Submit the completed nomination packets to A&S Academic Coordinator, Suzie Anderson (Suzie_Anderson@baylor.edu), with a cc to your Associate Dean, and not to Dean Nordt directly. 

Those receiving College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Faculty recognition will be notified on or about April 1 of each year.
