Zavala Summer Teacher Seminar

June 17 - 21, 2024
(All Day)

“Populism and the Constitution”

This 5-day seminar is presented by Baylor University Political Science Faculty and is sponsored by the Jack Miller Center. It is an exciting opportunity for teachers to discuss primary documents and implement them into their classrooms in an impactful way. This summer we will discuss writings that grapple with how the American Constitution is designed to address the problem of populism. We will be exploring themes such as separation of powers, checks and balances, progressivism, and democratic erosion.

We will meet from 9-4 Monday-Thursday and 9-12 Friday.

The institute is entirely cost-free for teachers. All materials are included, and breakfast and lunch will be provided daily. Seminar includes a dinner on Thursday evening.

All participants will receive a certificate of completion and a $400 stipend.
